When contacted at 4.45pm, Mohamad Sabu’s wife told Malaysiakini that her husband was in the midst of being taken away by the police from Ipoh where he was attending his daughter’s wedding.
Meanwhile, Tian Chua was arrested outside human rights organisation Suaram’s office in Johor Baru at 5.15pm by a police team from Kuala Lumpur.
Original Post!
Today evening around 4.30pm in Tambun, Ipoh nearby the Giant hypermarket a group of Police officers had stopped Mat Sabu’s (or his full name Haji Mohamad Sabu of PAS) vehicle in an attempt to arrest him said some of the people around the area. Mat Sabu was in Ipoh due to attending a wedding function of his ‘anak saudara/anak’ or something like that in Tambun. It is believed that after the function finished and when he was departing home his car has been stopped in the middle of road by the authorities which is believed due to some speeches or illegal gathering organized by Mat Sabu.
Really not sure about the reasons but I was there at that time passing by the road and managed to take some pictures of the incident. Could not shot a picture of Mat Sabu because he was there inside the SUV all the time. In the end after the arrival of a lawyer and also the DAP MP of Batu Gajah Miss Fong Po Kuan (whom I believe is a lawyer too) and they did some negotiations with the authorities before Mat Sabu was let free to go.
Here some pictures and a small video of both the lawyer (I do not know who he was.. I mean the guy in a blue shirt!) and MP of Batu Gajah Fong interviewed by some reporters regarding the issue. From what I saw there is a reporter from The Star and also from Tamil daily Makkal Osai covering the news. Let us see what the mainstream media newspapers said tomorrow!
Sorry for the poor video because I’m not there with any handy cam’s OK!.I was just using my poor Sony Ericsson’s W800i to capture the photos and video. From what I heard there MP Batu Gajah was telling the reporters about the police should be more focusing on the crime issues of the country and added that everyone has the right to speak their minds.
ciao!

Three lawyers who were with him gave the assurance that Mohamad Sabu would surrender himself after sending his family home to Kepala Batas, Penang. The police did not trust him – accompanied him all the way to his house and took him in.
What a Sunday – DAY of ARREST!. The Government is acting tough and flexing its muscles and acting to deflect Hindraf allegations that they were discriminated. So everyone is roped in for flouting the laws. The PM says lawyers are not exempted and so are the Bersih Protesters.
Apart from the 9 arrested in Sunday’s Peace Walk, 14 Involved with Bersih Rally including PAS Mohd Sabu & PKR Tian Chua were also taken in.
